| How Bulk got Lucky & Other Red Hot Stories
So as Mutsu mentioned in the post below Bens spam, he came to London yesterday to see Red Hot Chillie Peppers. So I go to meet him at the station and while I’m waiting, I get a SMS message from that reads, and I quote:
Wanna c chillies wiv us? Got a ticket wiv ur name on it!
To this, my response was:
!?
Turns out somehow they had too many tickets, so to my complete surprise I got to go to the concert!
So we headed down to the west end of London for a bit, did a little window shoping. We played with an uber cool toy while we were regressing in to little children in Hamleys, the toy being 20Q. 20Q will ask you 20 questions and providing what you’re thinking of isn’t rude it’ll almost always guess correctly! There is also an online version which is large amounts of fun.
After the regresion, we spent more time following around Steves friend (Eve) who seemed to get very excited by clothes shopping (Mind you, Steve isn’t fantastic at resisting the lure of clothes shopping either!). This be Eve:
Eventually the time came to head on over to the concert. After we were in, Steve was rather desperate for some alcahol (see his previous posts for more info on that). However, once he saw the queue to for the bar, he changed his mind.
So for the first time in ages, Steve didn’t actually drink that night! This is Steve after seeing the line.
It took a good long while the huge crowds gatherd, but once they did, the concert kicked off!
The first band up was called “Chicks on Speed“. They got booed. A lot. To cut a short story shorter, they sucked. The next guy up was not something we were expecting at ALL. They came on, said his name and started hyping him up. I figured he must be a lookalike, or a cover band. But he wasn’t. He was Mr. James Brown, the Godfather Of Soul. He played for an hour, some stuff I’d never heard, plus some classics like “Get up”.
Once JB was done with his set, it wasn’t long before the main attraction made them selves known. And boy oh boy did they ever rock! Sadly due to the way it was set out, we couldn’t get any closer to the stage than we were, so we were forced to watch the show on the big screens only, but the main thing was the atmosphere, which was great!
Just for kicks, here is me looking slightly insane:
Once the mad rocking was over with, our legs were so aching and painful we found it very hard to walk. So we sat down in the park (the concert was in Hyde park, huge park in London) for a bit to try and get some feeling back in our legs. Once we had sat for a while (and indulged in a bit of public urination..) we decided to head back to my place for some sleeping. We sat while steve ate some curry, and decided to test the hell out of the 20Q website, by taking turns in thinking of things and asking the questions the site asked. The only time it didn’t guess what we were thinking of was when Steve thought of a Dildo. After that we did the sleeping.
In the moring, Steve wanted to buy one of those 20Q gadgets from Hamleys, and do some other general money spending action, so we headed back to the west end for a while. After a bit of that I had to get back so I bid my farewells to Steve and Eve (Oo, it rhymes ) and then I went home! Here endeth the story of how Bulk got Lucky & Other Red Hot Stories.
