I just don’t know what to do with myself

I should be more relaxed and happy right now, I finished school on Friday and I am fairly certain I graduated with honours. In my entire education I was never much of a go hard or a hard study, but in the last month or two of school I really got into it and now that it’s over I am having a hard time not having any school work to do. I actually do have a couple of projects I wanted to start once I was done school but I feel like I should be relaxing and celebrating now, not jumping right into work again.

I celebrated on Friday night with Riaz. We went out to scout some bars downtown for his birthday next weekend but it turned out to be less scouting and more drinking. We meant to take the subway home but apparently it stops running after 2 so had to take cab home (which costs us a hefty $40) after an hour of stumbling through the streets and urinated on the front lawn of Toronto City Hall. I followed that with two days of sitting on my ass doing nothing except for a brief video game session with Riaz on Saturday night. We played NFL Street incase you’re wondering. I used the heavy rain and strong winds as an excuse to stay in all day today watching TV, movies, and talk to Bulk about doing some work but not doing anything, which is our usual way of going about life. Tomorrow I head to Ottawa to get away from things a bit, get a different perspective for a day or two and most importantly visit Raph. I’ll likely only stay one night but it will still be fun.

Afterwards I am going to go straight into the design phase of my new project code-named AKBA (ack-bah). It’s nothing ground breaking, it’s a web app that’s been done before but I plan on making it very easy to use. For years I’ve been criticizing applications and websites for such obviously (to me at least) design flaws, and now it’s my turn to either show them how it’s done or be humiliated. My goal isn’t to make revolutionary applications; it’s to make good ideas great. I’ll make a post about it once I’ve designed it out on paper.

This post is made under duress.

Bendit says:
post on menkeys or your life is forfeit

So with that disclaimer said, I suppose I should post something, just so we don’t look like the layabout geeks with serious mental issues that we are.

What have I been up to then? University work, for a large part of my time… The other part of what’s been keeping me super super busy cannot be told at this time, but I’ll tell you it’s got nothing to do with any of my current activities. The problem with having a huge secret you cant tell anyone about, is that it just doesn’t make for an interesting post, so Imma have to come up with something else to fill this space up.

So in that case, a few things that have been of interest to me over the past few weeks:

Stargate SG1 is a really good show. I’ve now watched all the episodes, and it’s the funniest Sci-Fi I’ve ever seen. I definitely recommended it 100% to those of you that have never seen it, which considering how few people read this, is probably not many.

Another thing I wanna recommend is the blog of a real geek that has kept me interested over the last few months, and that’s the personal webblog of Mr Wil Wheaton AKA Wesley Crusher from Star Trek TNG. His blog is about his acting career post trek, his family, his journey to becoming a professional writer, and occasionally just how much of a geek he is. Consistently moving, sometimes funny and alwys interesting, you should add it to your bookmarks right NOW. He also updates a hell of a lot more than we do.

Last but certainly not least on my list-o-fun is Nation States which is a kind of dumbed down political simulation that is quite engrossing, in the small diversion sense. Both me and Ben are playing. Chances are most of the people reading this know about this stuff already via the TWL forums, but heck, you never know!!

That that’s about it from the magical brain of Bulk for this month. Providing my eyes aren’t bleeding, or my brain hasn’t melted, maybe I’ll post again. One day.
