I’ve not posted in a while, for various reasons. Most of which are tediously boring, some of which.. No they are all tediously boring.

Anyway! I’m here now, that’s what counts. So, what’s been up with me? I’ve been working partly on ways to generate more traffic for Wavelength, a number of which have been implemented and should bare results soon.. I hope.

I also got my marks from the university courses I did last year—I didn’t so as well as I could, but I got solid passes, which is what matters in the first year. Actual marks don’t count towards my final result.

Work on GeekScript continues, if rather slowly. It’s hard to find time to work on it properly, and some of the things I need to do are quite boring, so its hard to find inspiration. At any rate, I have news posting working, and commenting also works. I hope to upgrade this site to a working alpha at some point in mid January.

Nothing else has happened in my life recently that would be of any interest anyone, which is why this post is a bit lite of anything interesting. Maybe something will come up in the New Year! In case I don’t post again before Christmas, let me just wish the 4 of you that read this site a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!

The Last Samurai

Whenever I finish watching a movie I really enjoyed I always feel like I have to see it a second time before forming an opinion on it. But as a student seeing the same movie twice in theaters is a luxury I can’t afford. Until I get my hands on a DVD of the Last Samurai I’ll have to make do with my first reactions: It’s great movie. The photography is stunning, the acting is right on (especially by the actor who play the leading samurai, Katsumoto), and the story is captivating. I walked out of the theater questioning my own morals and honour, not about Hollywood. Any movie that makes me question my own view of the world is a good one in my book, but maybe not yours.

I wish I could say more, but I really do need to see the movie again.

Of drinking and remakes

I seem to go through this at the end of every semester. I start to hit the bars often for a couple of weeks until I get tired of the scene and return to my modest life as a loner. I am not seeing any signs of this slowing down anytime soon and my bank account is still ripe with booze money. My party guide this time around has been none other than my good friend Riaz, always up for a good time.

Anyway, I am laying in bed here trying to get well rested for another night of embarrassment, hilarity, loss of dignity and getting shot down by only the cutest of the rocker chicks – or maybe I’ll just stay in.

I’ve been meaning to see a lot of movies lately but it’s been tough without my faithful movie buddy being within social outing distance. I’ll have to find a temporary replacement to see Elf, Master in Commander and The Last Samurai. I hear The Last Samurai is fucking amazing and I fully intend on seeing it this weekend.

Speaking of samurai movies, I’ve let Santa know that I’d enjoy the Akira Kurosawa DVD box set which of course includes the amazing film “Seven Samurai”. Seven Samurai is such an amazing movie but as a perfectionist I’d really like to see the movie tastefully redone so I can enjoy the story with crisp, clean video and Dolby Digital sound. Maybe Ang Lee should get on that? I wouldn’t mind it being in colour but I think it would be cooler if it was in black & white and in Japanese. The lack of colour in the original lets you focus on different things on the screen instead of clashing colours, I think it makes the movie more story driven.

I guess I should get off my ass now.

Damn it woman, I thought that you knew this?
